cool concept! i am ready to hear the
composition but am disappointed i can not. you really should
consider streaming on web radio, it seems the perfect medium for
such a project.

It serms a mad idea to take on though
this long player thing. I mean, what if the people who run it
decides they dont want to do it any more. Exactly! You have to do it
your whole life. Great idea, I just dont believe it will last a
thousand years.

Absoutely excellent piece of sound
engineering! It was the most enjoyable piece at the Dome and I must
go to Trinity Wharf to see it again. Its so good I've used it as a
focal point in a dissertation about generative music. Pity i wont be
around for the next 998 years to hear it all!

I too discovered longplayer at the
Dome's Rest Zone. I wish to add my voice of support to the others
here asking for an internet transmission. I know that you have
specifically commented here that a radio broadcast is preferential
to Internet streaming but personally I find that quite
disappointing. If you set up a live high-bandwidth stream it would
not only be more permenant and less interrupted than your
installations but it could also provide higher quality sound
fidelity than a radio. I beg you to set up a live, 1,000-year long
Internet stream of longplayer immediately! best tobyslater

I'm very excited about this project
and hope one day to hear it. I would also like to know more about
how the music is composed by the computer and what possible changes
could occur to the way it is played or presented.

An amazing piece of work, the most
inspired thing ive encountered for a long time. Are there plans for
the program to be made available on the net for download? A smaller
version of the rest zone at college would be safe. Nice one, keep it
going - truly a monument to the acheivements of man throughout the
centuries.

I think the music is GREAT, as i
haerd it at the Dome. But can you PLEASE tell me how it works
because it is confusing me slightly and we won't even be here in a
1000 years so you betta recruit someone you can trust and they
better recruit someone they can trust and they better do the
same.... LOL. So could you PLEASE explain to me how it works. THANK
YOU VERY MUCH. :)

This is truly a brilliant idea. Might
this be the next step in the evolution of the art world? The
combining of machine and man in a project that will last several
lifetimes is revolutionary, and my only regret is that I will not
live to see it in its completion.

I think the most important feature of
this project is the fact that no one human could ever manage it in
its entirety ? that many generations must be intelligently linked to
complete it. If that doesn't make you take pause and realize the
importance of preserving enlightened, just, and sustainable
societies, then what does?

A wonderful big idea. The concept of
1000 years of music gives a sense of more than now. When I read
about the site in an online newsletter I thought it sounded magic.
The site itself is beautifully designed. Your vision is amazing.
Sadly, even a baby technofile like me would enjoy connecting to a
site/concept like this an actually hearing something. I wouldn't
care if it was 2 cats moaning on a soft irish evening. At least I
would feel part of the experience you are trying to create. Yes, I
know there are all sorts of technical reasons why you are taking
your time to stream music online --- but/and you may lose people
because of this. The irony/paradox is that you have an amazing music
concept with a vision that transcends generations online --- and we
have to listen to it in physical space. Good luck anyway

This project interests me greatly. It
is using music as a form of expressing time and space, not just
clocks and calendars, and the possibilities of existing in such a
state are vast and exciting. I am looking forward to a listening
post here in North America, as well as a post on the internet. An
epic idea brought to life; something I will tell my children and
grandchidren to continue to explore and listen. Bravo!
