SONIC RAY 30 September 2021 – 21 November 2021
Book tickets
Originally scheduled for 2020 and postponed due to the pandemic, Sonic Ray was commissioned by Artangel to mark the 20th anniversary of Longplayer.
The unique art experience, taking place on either end of the river, illuminated London’s only lighthouse at Trinity Buoy Wharf. There, the music of Longplayer was encoded and transmitted as a powerful beam of green light and shone across the river Thames to Richard Wilson’s millennial sculpture Slice Of Reality.
Visitors chose their starting point at either Trinity Buoy Wharf Lighthouse in Docklands or at sculptor Richard Wilson’s Slice of Reality on the Greenwich peninsula, travelling between the two locations on a short ride aboard a chartered riverboat – all part of the experience.
Sonic Ray was presented as part of the Totally Thames Festival 2021 and could only be viewed after dark.
